“People think we’re secretly married,” Ariana shared with a laugh. She also admitted to stumbling upon “Gelfie” content—fan-made stories and art about their characters, Elphaba and Glinda, in a romantic light. “I wish I could unsee some things,” she confessed. “I mean, wow, I had a feeling, but I didn’t know it would be on this scale or this graphic.”
While the rumors have been entertaining, Ariana is focused on her real-life relationship with co-star Ethan Slater, whom she began dating in 2023. As for her friendship with Cynthia, Ariana is simply enjoying their close connection.
“Cynthia and I have such a special bond,” she added. “But it’s all about the friendship and the magic we’re creating together for Wicked.”
